The Chena is a Single cutaway electric acoustic, carved top three on a side, short scale guitar. The body style is shaped similar to the Kenai, but a little larger.
This Tier 2 “Violin Amber” Chena S/N 193 has the finest tone woods together for the first time on a Chena. Starting with Joe’s finest clear and straight-grained "Adirondack Red Spruce" top and south American Mahogany back, this guitar rings like a bell. The '59' carve on this 12" radiused Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with Morningstar inlays on top of a curly rock maple neck makes playability a dream. The Brazilian Rosewood headstock is incredible with the gold Gotoh tuning pegs. Gold "top hat" style knobs, the Knaggs designed one piece Tune-O-Matic bridge and Gold covered Bare Knuckle Stormy Monday pickups round out the bottom. The sound is incredible. Joe personally played this one in for about 30 minutes and commented that “It sounds really Sweet, with a great softer sound and acoustic ring, but with all of the volume of a normal Chena”. The best surprise was the smoothness of the bass. The guitar growls when you want it to, but is soft, sweet, and has a very smooth character to it. From a Larry Carlton Bluesy-ness, to Martin Taylor jazz, to your favorite Les Paul ‘59, this guitar does it all.
