This 1959 Fender Strat Masterbuilt Relic by Todd Krause just nails it. It has SOUL. Finished in Iced Blue Metallic, it has a vibe like none other. It took me a long time to jump back into “Strat-land” as there are millions of strats out there. How does one know a good one? Well for me, in retrospect, 1959 was a banner year for guitars. With Gibson you had the Les Paul Standard, the emergence of the ES-335, and Fender switched back to Brazilian rosewood fingerboards over a maple neck. So to have Fender’s best crafstman, Todd Krause, the builder for “EC” himself make a ‘59 with a Brazilian board, with pickups by another mastercraftsman J. Cruz, it was time. After listening to Greg Koch demo and marvel over this one, and never touch the tuning keys - this was it. It has personality in spades.
