Artistic Guitars is thrilled to be working with Joseph Knaggs Guitars. Joseph S. Knaggs is a world renowned designer and luthier and has built some of the most exquisite guitars made in the last decade for stars such as Carlos Santana and Al Di Meola. The Potamac is a medium sized body non-cutaway acoustic. This guitar is finished in an aged natural medium rubbed finish over choice Adirondack Red Spruce.
The sides and back are very rare and special. They are a ridiculous highly figured Quilted Mahogany set given to Joe by PRS himself. This wood is from “The Tree”. In 1965, within the heart of the Mayan jungle, a group of loggers came across an exceptional mahogany tree. Measuring 10 ft wide at the mid-trunk and 50 at the base, it had a spiraled back. This was a sign the wood could be highly figured. Boards from "The Tree" have commanded premiums since harvested in 1971. This striking tonewood is more brown than red and is denser and stiffer than usual for mahogany. It sounds closer to rosewood than mahogany.”
Potomac #1 has a maple bound ebony fingerboard and headstock. Pearlworks Inlay and purfling adorn the neck and perimeter of the body front and back. The engraved Waverly tuning keys and the headstock are truly spectacular.
We have the first 4 Acoustics Joe has made. Joe made 18 Private Stock acoustics for PRS, they all sold within 2 weeks. Joe calls his first 4 Acoustics the best guitars he’s ever made - quite an honor.
