Limited to only 25 instruments, the Flying Dolphin represents Nik's finest work. The workmaship is exquisite and Flying Dolphin #6 is an incredible instrument. It is a double stained Atlantic Blue Dolphin II with an exceptional 1-piece quilted maple top . It has a nicely flamed Mahogany body with exquisite maple topside body purfling. The Flying Dolphin includes an 85 piece Handcut Multi-Inlay made of Abalone, Black Pearl, Mother of Pearl, and Sterling Silver on the top of the body. Body inlays are very unique, and very difficult to build. Flying #6 also has the Brazilian Rosewood package consisting of a solid 1-piece Brazilian Rosewood Neck, Fingerboard, and backside cover plate. This guitar has Nik’s Dolphin inlays in the position markers. This one also has Ebony tuning keys, control knobs, tip, and a select truss cover. The neck is superb. It has great feel with a thickness similar to a great Historic ‘59 R9. The 25.5" scale helps with sustain and playability. It has 2 Haussel Humbucking pick-ups, Nik's preferred pick-up choice. #6 has a stop tail. Additionally, Flying Dolphin #6 has gold hardware. Drop-dead gorgeous looks and workmanship, outstanding tonewoods, exceptional playbility, and great sound. Simply awesome.
