1997 Martin Limited Edition Stauffer 00-45 Commemorative - #2 of 25
Brazilian Rosewood Sides and Back - Mint Condition
Sold
This 1997 Martin Limited Edition Stauffer 00-45 Commemorative is a very unique and rare guitar. It is a 175th Anniversary Limited model, #2 of 25 built by Martin’s Custom Shop. It was made as a commemorative of Martin’s Viennese instructor Johann Stauffer, a master luthier, whom CF Martin apprenticed under. It’s considered to be one of the rarest Martins of the past several decades. This is not to be confused with the Martin 00 175th, of which Martin made 175 guitars with Madagascar Rosewood and much less ornamentation than the “45” trim level.
This Martin Stauffer 00-45 serial #2 has the most exceptional Brazilian Rosewood sides and back that I have seen on an acoustic. Along with the premium solid Sitka spruce top, you have the elements of outstanding wood choices for sonic excellence and beauty in an acoustic guitar. This Martin 00-45 has a 39 1/2" total length, a 19 1/2" body length, 14 1/8" body width and a 3 7/8" body depth. It also features a solid Mahogany neck, and 19 fret Ebony fingerboard with 12 frets clear on a 25" scale length. The fingerboard width at the nut is 1-3/4 to 2-1/4 at the 12th fret. This guitar has a nice Ebony fingerboard and bridge, and plays and sounds superb. It is responsive to a light right hand attack; yielding a smooth sustain even at lower volumes. On the flip side, it has power and volume for a smaller bodied guitar that will impress. The low end is full and clean without getting mushy, while the note attack is clear and precise. Serial number 146040. Includes Martin Coffin Case HSC also in very good condition. Truly collectible and a great playing and sounding instrument of uniqueness...
